.. Dhwani walked in the room but looked towards the bed only to see her semi-naked (top- half hai guys chill) husband peacefully sleeping on the bed with the blanket only covering his lower half. His left hand was on his chest while his right hand rested on his forehead. She stared at his chest rising and lowering. His ✨abs✨ glistening under the dim light. All she could think was "Sun to chhodo, inhi ki wajah se glaciers pighal rahe hain."
(Leave the sun, it's because of him that the glaciers are melting.)
Her trance broke as she realised she was staring at him. She shook her head and walked towards their closet.
She changed into comfortable clothes and laid down near Shikhar. She first covered Shikhar's top half awkwardly and then pulled the blanket up to cover herself.
No matter the fact that they cuddled every day while sleeping, she had never seen him like that and it for sure was a scene to devour. She was sleeping with her back to Shikhar but a strong grip pulled her back and she clashed into Shikhar's chest. Her eyes widened as she felt his sharp features. She looked down at his hand and saw a faint design on it. She pulled the hand closer to her and kept it in front of her eyes. A gasp left her mouth as she realised he had made a mehendi for her on his palm. He had her name written in the middle of his palm with a few flowers adorning it. That gasp soon turned into wide toothy grin. She place his hand back to it's original place and pressed herself into his chest even further, finding the comfort she loves. Shikhar too nuzzled his face into her neck and drifted off to a deep slumber.
Shikhar may not ever admit it but he definitely knew he needed Dhwani. He couldn't do anything without her. He needed her to pick his clothes, to serve him food, to give him company, to talk non-stop with him. Nope, he wasn't using her. Definitely not. He gave her everything she needed. Food, money, everything. However, he didn't realize that he didn't give some of the most needed things.
Love, Protection and care.
Shikhar thought that the cuddles were enough to show him love, protection and care but little did he know that a woman, his wife needed things much more than this. She wanted him to talk to her, to share all of his problems with her, to go out with her, to protect her from his family, to spend quality time with her. She wanted a normal couple life. They certainly couldn't be normal but Dhwani wanted him to atleast try. Yet, it was obvious, Shikhar didn't try. He didn't bother to ever ask her anything.
-- Yuhaan and Kritika's room --
Kritika walked in the room and locked the door, like they did every night. Her eyes scanned the room before they found him. Staring intently at his laptop screen, typing something. It seemed like he was focused and engrossed in work so Kritika simply went ahead without speaking anything and changed herself into normal clothes.
She walked out and sat at her side of bed with a book. It was 12:30am but since Yuhaan was in no mood of sleeping, Kritika didn't bring up the topic either.
A while passed
some more time
and some more
and more
and before realizing it was 2:30 in the morning. The room that was once filled with silence was soon replaced with Kritika's yawns. After everything she did the whole day, she didn't have energy to keep her eyes open for even a single second. The yawns soon came to Yuhaan's attention and he looked at Kritika while she was in the middle of another yawn. Her eyes teary, looking like they would close any second. She was looking like an absolute cutie.
He sighed and turned off his laptop. He kept it on the coffee table before moving to his side of the bed. Kritika was currently living in the world of the ❤️Romance Novel ❤️She was reading. Imagining her self with the mmc, who, in Kritika's eyes, was much much better than Yuhaan. It was all she dreamt of.
Just as the mmc and Kritika were going kiss (In her imagination) Yuhaan snatched the book from her hand, and he was mad. She tried to take it back but changed her mind as she made eye contact with Yuhaan's fiery eyes. A person could deal with anything and anyone except Yuhaan's anger. This man had serious anger issues and once he get's angry, there's no going back.
That interesting smile on her face was swapped of with a frown and she looked down at her hands, fidgeting with her fingers. Yuhaan's eyes softened for a second before he read a few lines and realized what Kritika was imagining. They added the sparks to the dim fire. She looked at him from the corner of her eyes and could clearly see fire in them.
He wasn't just.. mad. He was mad mad. Angry. Kritika had seen him act like this but it was never towards her. This was the first time she made him this angry and she knew, she messed up. Yuhaan was still glaring at her but the soft sorry she said melted his heart. He looked at her disheveled state. Her untidy hair, her soft skin with glistening under the light. This state of hers made him chuckle. Not a humorless one but a short hearty chuckle.
Kritika gasped at his reaction. The Yuhaan Singh Randhawa smiling and laughing? Her eyes were widened with shock. "Close your mouth mrs. Randhawa, A fly will get it." This was enough for all of Kritika's memories of the day to come back to her. She closed her mouth and looked away blushing. She loved this side of Yuhaan. The soft, loving, happy side.
Yuhaan kept the book away and laid down. Kritika too laid down facing Yuhaan. Her eyes however drifted off to this hand. A few brown lines. "Ye aapke haath pe kya hai?" Yuhaan followed Kritika's eyes and ended at his hand. He quickly took his hand away from her eyes and started stuttering. The Yuhaan Singhania started stuttering. "Yeh? hehe ( nervous laugh) aree y-yeh to k-kuch bhi nahi hai? Kya b-bol rahi ho tum?" Kritika stared at him for a while before launching her head on his other hand, placing her head at his biceps and quickly grabbing the other hand.
(What is this on your hand?)
(This? hehe, aree t-this is nothing? What are you t-talking about?)
She brought it closer to her eyes and squinched her eyes as she wasn't able to see in the dark. Those squinched up eyes soon turned into widened eyes. Just like Shikhar, Yuhaan too had made a henna for his cute little wife on his palm. It was her name with a few Hawaiian hibiscus flowers. Her favorite flowers. She kept on staring it before Yuhaan pulled back his hand out of embarrassment. He looked away and a huge smile spread on her face.
She quickly got up on her elbows and looked at Yuhaan who was still looking away. "Aap ne mere liye mehendi banayi?" "Hm" "Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh" She squealed loudly and gave Yuhaan a huge hug out of surprise and this left him Shocked.
(You made a mehendi for me?)
It was definitely one of the tightest hugs he had ever recieved yet the hug brought back memories. The ones that he had buried somewhere deep down. The ones he coped up with by burdening himself by work. Tears filled his eyes and his fists clenched. He subconsciously rejected her hug. Kritika slowly pulled back as she felt his muscles tense up. Her smile slowly faded away as she looked at Yuhaan's.
She had no idea about any of Yuhaan's memories, He never told her. Hence the only thing that came to Kritika's mind was that it was because of her. She muttered a sorry before going back to her place with a sad face and resting her face on the pillow.
She slept the second her head touched the pillow. Yuhaan who was still having flashbacks had no idea what happened. Why she pulled back. but those teary eyes forced the tears to go away. He certainly didn't want Kritika seeing him so vulnerable again. However the guilt started eating up Yuhaan. He didn't want his wife to be sad. Yet, Yuhaan kept on staring at her face. The face that was caressed by the beautiful moonlight peeking into their room.
Something inside Yuhaan just urged him hard to pull her close and give the tightest hug. It was what his heart told him. This time though, he listened to his heart. He pulled her closed with both his arms by the waist and hugged her tight. Her hands ended up at his chest as he played with her hair.
Little did he know she was still lightly awake. But she didn't complain. His raaare cuddles were some of the best ones. Yuhaan too slowly drifted of to a deep slumber.
-- The next day --
The next day went quite similar to the one before. Kritika running around everywhere trying to get all the decorations and preparations ready. However, today there was no Yuhaan in the books and no Shikhar in Dhwani's. Both the brothers were engrossed in work together sitting in their home offices.
Neither of them wanted a leave but didn't have an option due to the huge amount of people coming.
The brothers had gone back to their natural nature and genuinely made Kritika and Dhwani question themselves. Did they do something wrong? Nevertheless, after seeing Kritika's tired state yesterday, Dhwani felt really bad and didn't go to her room for the next few days while the wedding lasted.
Kritika did try to refuse multiple times there wasn't an avail. The preparations ended earlier than the day before as two people were working together however it did take a lot of energy and by the time they were done, they were Exhausted.
Today was the Sangeet ceremony, a vibrant symphony of joy and tradition, unfolds like a resplendent chapter in an ancient tale. The air is adorned with the fragrance of love and merriment as families unite in harmonious celebration. Through enchanting melodies and graceful dance, the bride and groom's journey is serenaded with timeless melodies, weaving a tapestry of cherished moments and boundless happiness. The sangeet, a radiant ode to love, resonates with the echoes of tradition and the promise of a new beginning.
This is the famous ceremony where people prepare dances and performances for the bride and groom expressing their love and creating the whole moment lively.
The stage was set up similarly except it was moved towards the side and an even larger stage took place there, where all the performances were to happen.
No one from their family participated except some distant relatives and a few small children yet it was enough to make the sad house lively. The bride and the groom, Kiara and Abhimanyu were sitting together on the chairs placed specially for them and for the first time, Abhimanyu didn't throw daggers at her, although he didn't talk to her either. He just kept quiet and minded his own business.
As the music played for the performances, Shikhar couldn't help but stare at his wife who was squirming in her seat. "Bathroom jana hai to jao na" Dhwani's head jerked towards Shikhar who was looking bored as hell. She stared at him before jerking her head back to the stage. She started speaking while gritting her teeth. "Bathroom nahi jana hai."
(Go to the bathroom if you want to.)
(I don't want to)
He spoke in a confused but bored tone "to inta hil kyun rahi ho?" She looked back him before she started clapping, "Waah patidev waah, apni biwi ke baare me itna bhi nahi pata hai." She looked away with a hurt and an angry face. She wanted to dance. Her favorite hobby which she hadn't got a chance to do since 5 months, since their wedding.
(Then why are you moving so much?"
(Wow husband wow, you don't know even that much about your wife.)
Shikhar was in no mood to speak and because he hated people and wanted to be alone, he hated these being there so he didn't bother continuing the conversation further.
Nevertheless, a while later, the six of them walked towards one of the tables and sat down with their signifi- spouse. The silently had food and after bidding bye to the guests, they made their way to their rooms.
Just as they were going to their room Yuhaan and Shikhar clutched the hands of their wives although, Yuhaan may not have noticed it but Shikhar did and as soon as he did, he left her hand. Unfortunately, Yuhaan wasn't able to do the same and due to this, Kritika was the dough that got kneaded, HARSH.
It was one of their not-so-distant relatives, but definitely not the nice one, as if anyone is nice. She had seen Yuhaan and Kritika holding hands and in her narrow-minded mind, it was the biggest sin anyone could have ever done. (Aunty herself has 3 children - No twins or triplets :p )
She walked towards them with the sassiest attitude ever and stopped right in front of them. The girls were taken aback but the boys continued with the most bored yet deadly face (handsome too) Yuhaan started to move away with the bored face pulling Kritika along with him but was stopped by the women's hand.
At this point, They couldn't even remember who the woman was. Their bhua, mami, chachi (aunts) they had no idea but it still ignited a fire within him. How dare someone stop Yuhaan from doing what he wanted?
He stared at the woman face and was about to speak before Kritika gently squeezed his hand, gesturing him to stay calm and for some reason, it worked. He gestured for the woman to speak and so she did.
"What are you guys doing?"
"Going to our rooms." Yuhaan spoke.
"Like this?" She said pointing towards their connected hands. He just simply nodded wanting to get this over with.
The woman walked closer to Kritika and spoke "Ay ladki, ye kya rahi hai tu haan? Ye jhooth mooth ka pyaar, ye lagav. Pakka iske paise ke picche padi hai." Her eyes widened after hearing this. As she was about to speak, the woman spoke again "Aur kuch bolne ki zaroorat nahi hai. Main sab janti hoon, main ye bhi janti hoon ke tum zaroor iske saat raat main vo karti ho, aur din main jab ye office main hota hai, tum to bahar jaake, doosron ke saath bhi wahi karti hogi na? Main sab janti hoon, ek din tum hi hamare Yuhaan ko dhokha deke, uske saare paise leke bhaag jaogi."
(Ay girl, What are you doing huh? This fake love and care. For sure your with him for money.)
(And there is no need to say anything. I know everything, and I even know you do that with him every night and when he is in the office during the day, you go out and do the same with others don't you? I know everything, one day, you will betray our Yuhaan and run away with all his money.)
All the woman kept doing was criticizing her character and Kritika had always been very sensitive. By now, a lot of crowd had been gathered around them interested in the family drama and there certainly was tons of media, and paparazzi. Tears started flooding her eyes and no matter how hard she tried she couldn't stop them. Yuhaan, who had been glaring at the woman for as long as she was speaking, jerked his head towards Kritika who was trying her best to stop sobbing.
The fire within him grew higher and flame was visible in his eyes. Kritika looked up for a second, glancing here and there but all she could see was tons and tons of flashlights taking pictures of them. Yuhaan walked closer to Kritika and just as the woman was about to speak he yelled. "Aunty dekhiye, aap humse badi hai isiliye aapki izzat ka maan rakhte hue aap se baat kar rahan hoon warna aap bhi janti hai aapki jagah koi bhi hota to zinda nahi bachta. Rahi baat Kritika ki to wo meri biwi hai. Hamare beech main kya hota hai isse aap ka koi lena dena nahi hai aur isse aap ko kuch farak nahi padna chahiye. Doosri baat, aapka koi hakh nahi hai meri biwi ke character pe baat karne ki. Wo jaise waisi bohot acchi hai aur agar nahi bhi hai to mere liye kaafi hai. Wo sab chhodiye, agar kaafi nahi bhi hoti to main itna to janta hoon ke ye bohot hi loyal hai mujhe chhod ke kabhi nahi jaa sakti hai and jaayegi bhi nahi. To agar aap kripaya kar ke apne aap pe dhyan dengi to aap hi ke liye accha hoga kyunki ek bhi baar aur, yahan par kisi ne bhi meri biwi pe ungli uthai to yaad rakh lena mujhse bura koi nahi hoga."
(Aunty look, You are elder than as and so keeping the dignity of your respect I am talking to you calmly otherwise even you know this that if there was anyone else in the place of you they wouldn't have been found alive the next day. Now about Kritika, she is my wife. Anything that happens between us shouldn't bother you. Second thing, you have no right to question my wife's character. She is amazing just the way she is and even if she isn't, then she is enough for me. Forget all of that, even she wasn't enough then I know that she is atleast very loyal and can never leave it and never will. So if you kindly take care of yourself and mind your own business, it'll be better for you and if anyone here points a finger on my wife then remember, there won't be anyone worse than me.
By now Abhimanyu and Shikhar had held their wives by their shoulders in order to protect them from any sense of getting hurt. Yuhaan looked back towards Kritika who still terribly sobbing and trying to hide her face from the cameras using her saree's pallu.
In a swift move, he picked her in her arms, bridle style and walked towards their room. Kritika hid her face in his strong chest trying to hide herself from the world. Yuhaan felt her tears dampening his shirt and the sight melted his heart. He hated seeing her cry this way (or any other way).
He kicked open the door to their room and locked it. He gently sat the sobbing Kritika on the edge bed who was showing no signs of stopping. He kneeled down in front of her and she looked away. She was fine with anything except Yuhaan seeing her terrible state. He held cupped her face with both his hands forcing her to meet his eyes.
She tried pushing away his hands but couldn't and so she spoke in cracked, broken voice. "Yuhaan ji hame chhodiye." He smiled before speaking
"Kabhi nahi." She only ended up crying more as this reminded her back of everything that just took place. He smile was immediately wiped off his face as her sobs grew louder. and for first time in Kritika's life she heard him call her his life. "Meri Jaan please shant ho jaao mera dil behla ja raha hai" He sat on the bed near her and pulled her into his arms caressing her hair and shushing her down gently. Her sobs slowed down and slowly ended.
(Yuhaan ji leave me)
(Never)
(My life/love please stop crying my heart is sinking.)
The two sat there in silence, in each other's arms finding the comfort they desperately needed. Although there were still sniffles heard in the intervals of 2-3 minutes. Yuhaan was still caressing her hair and rubbing her back and Kritika loved the gesture.
A while later, as much as she hated it, she pulled back. She told him she was gonna go change and as soon as she was back he changed too. The two of them, laid on their bed, next to each other in utter silence and despite the tiredness they weren't able to sleep a wink. Kritika decided to speak up "Sorry". He glanced at her in surprise, there was no reason for her to apologize. "For what?" "For everything that happened. If I hadn't cried, then you wouldn't have to yell at her or console me or pick me up in your arms or basically have to deal with my tantrums. It was stupid anyways." She sniffled and looked away.
He stared at her in shock but soon calmed her down. He pulled her close to him, in his arms and softly spoke. His one hand rested against her back, the one that pulled her and with the other he caressed her hair to soothe her. "Kritika, you have no reason to apologize for anything. It wasn't your fault at all. She was the one who was questioning your character and even I don't talk to you or we aren't like normal couples or people or anything, I am the Hukum of Jaipur and the CEO of the Randhawa Empire, no one dares point their finger on my wife." She looked up towards a face that was already looking at her. He warmly smiled at her and held her hand before speaking again.
"And if the question is about dealing with your tantrums or about my reputation. As much as it matters, I don't care about it Kritika. You are my wife and I am ready to deal with your tantrums my entire life." Tears started dripping out of her eyes again and his calm body started panicking again. "Kritika? Are you ok? Did I say something wrong?" She sniffled and chuckled before making him lay down once again. "Thank you" It was the only thing she said but it was enough to make him feel content. The two peacefully slept in each others arms <3
Another thing, This one is quite important. For anyone saying that women aren't weak and sensitive and they don't cry so easily and that I am showing masculinity and making women look weak, you are absolutely wrong. I am a girl myself and that is definitely not the message I am trying to show. This was just the way a character was portrayed. The character has their own backstory and as the story proceeds, all secrets will be opened.
Yet, if you don't like this, please feel free to leave. Thank you.
